New findings suggest that cardiovascular (CV) risk factors are associated with signs of brain atrophy even in younger MS patients, under the age of 50 years.
To investigate the impact of CV risk factors in younger MS patients, specialists at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute Neuroimaging Research Unit in Milan, Italy, studied 124 MS patients (79 relapsing-remitting MS, 45 progressive MS; mean age 36 years, range 18-50 years) and 95 age- and sex-matched controls.
