Smartphones may help monitor cognition and physical functioning in MS

Researchers in the Netherlands have reported the results of a study evaluating smartphone monitoring to detect changes in cognition and walking function in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS).

“Processing speed and walking distance can be assessed remotely”, according to Dr Ka Hoo Lam of the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. “Self-administered smartphone tests can be repeatedly assessed over time, potentially enabling monitoring of function in MS.”
